UTMB Lottery winners
We imagine a lot of you heard from UTMB last week about whether or not you got a spot in one of the series’ 2020 races. We really hope you did–and if so, we wish you a great season of training leading up to your race. Arriving to the start line well-trained = the race is more fun! Shoot us a message if you have any training questions–our coaches have run almost every race in the UTMB docket, so we’re happy to help.
If you didn’t get in, don’t worry…you’ll get a spot eventually, and if not, you can always find an amazing trail race somewhere else in the world. Remember there are so many races around the world that are equally adventurous and epic.
We leave you with the “numbers” behind this year’s UTMB sign-up process. 32,000 runners from over 100 countries vied for a spot in this year’s races. Amazing! And if you were wondering about the odds of getting in…that’s included too.

Off-season like a pro.
Depending on in which hemisphere you live and if it’s summer or winter, you may or may not be training for a race right now…but the beginning of the year tends to be a period of off-time for many of you. It’s always nice to give the mind and body some weeks to recover before starting to build again for the challenges of the year. We leave you with this article about how some pro’s approach this time of the year.

Rickey Gates Profile.
It’s no secret that we really like Rickey Gates, so every time there’s something new written about this guy, we try to share it with you. This time, Outside did a great profile on him in which he talk about a lot of topics; including one of his latest project (Bus – Run – Bus) and a lot about his lifestyle that has led him to be where he is in life. As always with Rickey, this profile is worth the long read.

What to listen to:
This isn’t the first time We’ve shared something about the USA Ultra Runner Alex Nichols. He’s been around for a long time now, but since he’s a low profile kind of runner, many of you may not have heard much about him. We leave you with this podcast where Alex discuss his trajectory in the sport; the short, explosive races he did a couple of years ago; and the 100 miles and longer stuff (like Nolan’s 14 FKT he did last year) he’s been doing throughout the last couple of years. For sure one of the most consistent and all-around strong runners we have in our sport.
