We started Vert.run with one goal in mind: to make trail running accessible to everybody, everywhere. 

Throughout the past four years since founding Vert.run, we’ve been working hard towards this mission. Through Vert.run, we’ve unlocked access to trail running for over 85,000 people from over 100 countries with our free training programs for beginners, affordable coaching and technology in the Vert.run App. 

By working with races around the world–like the UTMB® Mont Blanc, and 14 other races in the series–we know that we’ll be able to bring the joy of finishing a race and safely achieving their goal to thousands more trail runners.

Each plan is designed specifically for the demands of the race itself: its distance, technicality, elevation gain and type of terrain.

The plans also include a very important element: the Mountain Index of each race, which is a tool we developed ourselves at Vert.run so that racers can make sure they’re doing exactly the right amount of elevation gain in their training for their race. 

Each training plan that we’ve designed for these 14 races adapts to each runner’s personal experience level, schedule and type of training surface they have available (i.e. flat or hilly) to make sure that they’re correctly and safely prepared for their adventure–no matter if they live in a city or in the mountains. 

With Vert.run, we help racers achieve their goal–no matter if they want to compete for the podium, break their PR, or simply to finish feeling strong.  

Throughout the history of trail and ultrarunning, the finishing rate has never been as high as it could be. We want to improve that. We want to help as many runners as possible–of all experience levels–achieve that feeling of accomplishment, self confidence and pride that comes with reaching their finish line feeling strong.

We know that by training with Vert.run, a runner’s chances of finishing their trail race or ultramarathon are high. We have proven that with the thousands of runners who have excelled with our innovative training and coaching services. 

With our $25 USD/month training and coaching subscription, not only do runners get access to a training plan designed specifically for their race–with workouts handcrafted for their distance–but they also get access to personal coaching support from their Vert.run coach on a weekly basis.

When you train with Vert.run, your personal Vert.run coach checks in on your training once a week to make sure that you’re training safely and to follow your progress. In addition to making sure you’re right on track for your goal, your Vert.run coach also answers any of your questions about training, nutrition and gear–giving you direct access to an expert, right in your pocket. Your connection with your Vert.run coach provides you with accountability, support and encouragement: the key tools for success in reaching your trail running goals. 

We’re on a mission to help every single runner at the start line of all of these 14 races not only finish their race; but to have a great time while doing so. 

Here are the training plans we’ve designed for each race, including descriptions: 

TRANSVULCANIA BY UTMB® is a race that traverses an amazing island–it’s a scenic, volcanic adventure.

This training plan will thoroughly prepare you not only to finish the full 72 km distance but also to enjoy it. Since the 72k starts with a long, steady climb that will drain lots of energy, you’ve got to develop the skills you’ll need to run down the incredibly hard, demanding downhill to the finish line.

This training plan starts with a block of speed and Vo2 max training sessions, followed by a nice 6-week block of  Lactate threshold training. It also includes key long runs and endurance runs to make sure you’re ready to rock Transvulcania.

Transvulcania takes place at the heart of a volcanic island–so it’s no surprise that the route of the beautiful, 48 km Volcanes course takes you to discover the beauty of this island. This training plan will prepare you not only to reach the finish line feeling strong but to enjoy each step of the race. The running economy and speed-focused sessions at the beginning of this plan will allow you to feel comfortable kilometer after kilometer as you race Volcanes. Let’s go!

Transvulcania is a race that traverses an amazing island, making it a scenic, volcanic adventure. This training plan will prepare you not only to finish this 28k feeling strong but to enjoy each step of the race. The plan focuses heavily on downhill training because El Roque has much more downhill than uphill–so it’s going to be a fast adventure on race day! In just 10 weeks, you’ll develop speed, power, strength, and downhill skills to finish El Roque feeling strong. 

🏁 Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB®:

Snowdonia’s technical terrain and challenging weather require not only serious endurance, but also technical skills. This training plan will help you develop both: you’ll complete key workouts with a strong focus on endurance to prepare you for the 100 miles you’ll face in UTS. Our weekly coaching support will keep you on track and training safely–and to help you reach your goals on race day.  

Prepare for Snowdonia’s challenging terrain and unpredictable weather with this training plan for UTS 100 km. You’ll build the technical skills and endurance needed to tackle the course’s ups and downs with confidence. Plus, our weekly coaching support will help you stay motivated and on track towards your UTS 100k goal. 

From technical terrain to changing weather, the UTS 50 km demands both speed and technical skills to keep you safe. This training plan is designed to help you move fast and light while enjoying every kilometer of your race. With this plan’s focus on speedwork, strength, and lactate threshold workouts, you’ll be ready to take on the challenge.

The ERYRI 20 km is all about moving fast and light through hard weather conditions and technical terrain. This training plan is designed to help you develop the speed and endurance you’ll need to tackle the course’s challenges–and to finish feeling strong. Plus, you’ll have access to weekly coaching support throughout this plan to keep you motivated and focused on reaching your goals.
